Becky is an experienced vocal coach and warm, friendly person who has a knack for helping students overcome barriers in their singing. She specialises in the application of vocal technique in contemporary music. Within the technique she teaches, she focuses on helping students transition smoothly through their registers and achieving balance, power, dynamic control and vibrancy in the voice.
Becky also believes that good singing requires a healthy mindset and she strives to help students with this with positive reinforcement, setting goals and other tools for achieving a strong sense of self.
History
American born, but based in London from 2001 - 2014, Becky was in high demand as a vocal coach. She ran a successful voice studio in Soho, and taught at The Academy of Contemporary Music, where she trained up and coming artists in the music industry. She has worked with Universal, EMI, Mercury Records, and helped actors win roles in the West End. In the UK she was regularly featured on BBC News discussing artists in the media, such as Whitney Houston and Beyonce.
Becky and her family have now relocated to Sydney and teaches private lessons from her home in Rose Bay.
Becky's ties to the US and Europe enabled her to train her own voice with some of the industry's leading vocal coaches. Over several years, she undertook a comprehensive teacher-training program and learned directly from Seth Riggs (Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban) and Dave Stroud (Cee-Lo Green, Jordin Sparks, Natasha Bedingfield), amongst several other coaches of award-winning performers.
When not teaching, Becky loves to cook and was a semi-finalist on BBC’s Masterchef UK in 2006.
